YouTube - I Have Gone And Done It

Well folks, I have opened a YouTube account finally, so will upload some of my own videos, these will only be simple retro games to start off with and will gradually upload others (like when I get a digital video camera).

It may take me some time to get a video up and running, but you never know.....

Wigan v Liverpool - Debacle Episode 4

I am not one for ripping into Rafa (and this is why I left it so long to blog about it), I really do believe he has the potential to take us on to win the League, only not this year.  I have more or less conceded that Man United are going to equal our league record this year, as much as it is painful to say so.

So, here I am watching the Wigan game (watched it on a stream on t'internet), and I thought the first half was extremely promising!  We were all over Wigan like a bad case of <fill in the blank> rash.  And we scored!  I have

Well, all-in-all a considerably more than satisfactory end to the half.... then it went all terribly wrong!

The second half started bright enough, oh yes.  However, and this one of my major criticisms of Rafa, he went back into being too defensive and instead of going for the jugguler he took off first Torres (which is to a point understandable as he has been out for a long period of time) and then (far less so it might be said), Gerrard!  With 10 minutes to go!

I mean why?  To rest him?  Well, I can tell you what it, possibly, led to, Wigan's flipping equaliser that's what!  I do not usually question Rafa, but his decision making has been questionable lately.  I mean, despite having a decent first half, I would prefer to take Lucas off myself than Gerrard.  I can understand wanting to rest him, but what about giving him a day off training instead?

Oh well, yet another draw and we have now lost ground.  That's the way the cookie crumbles, just have Chelsea next!

"Of course a lager! The only thing that can kill a vindaloo." - Entertainment Not Tonight

"Of course a lager! The only thing that can kill a vindaloo." , not in the literal sense of course, but a rather spurious link to one of the funniest programmes to come out of the BBC!

I am, of course, talking about one of the things in my early to late childhood that I always looked forward to watching, that bastion of sci-fi comedy, the one, the only (oh for God's sake, just get on with it man!) Red Dwarf!

Steeped in humour, Rimmer always had the pee ripped out of him and yet it seemed like he was always oblivious to this.  Lister, well what can be said!  Always clean, always nice to Rimmer..... hang on, that's not Lister.....  Now, the cat, well, hilarious!  All he ever wanted to do was look good, the complete anti-Lister if you like.  And of course, the Android.  Well, let's put it this way, 5 mins with this android and the one from Hitchhikers Guide would be enough to make anyone slash there wrists with a spoon!

Now I hear you wondering why on God's green Earth has he started talking about Red Dwarf?  What a completely random thing to do!  Nope, I feel it is necessary, nee, my duty to inform you all of important developments.

You see it seems digital channel Dave (in between the 635,987th time of repeating Top Gear Series 1 Episodes 9-10) are showing a brand new, 2-parter called Red Dwarf:  Back To Earth!  Yippee......

Bank Bail-Out - Again - LOL Sent An Email - Details Follow

It seems that the British government, you know, headed by Gordon "Prudence, but only because I spent all the £60Billion surplus and sold all the gold reserves cheaply left to us by the Conservative Government who also left a really excellent economy and was growing until we got our hands on it" Brown are going to give the banks another massive bail-out using, yes, you guessed it, tax payers money!

Well, I had enough and sent an email to the treasury today, the address is privateoffice@hm-treasury.x.gsi.gov.uk (or at least I think it is the right one, thats the one from the Governments website anyways).

This is what I wrote:

I have noted with great distress that we the tax payer are, yet again,
going to bail out the banks.

Why? Let them go to the wall, they helped create this massive issue in
the first place.

Instead, why not use the tax payers money to pay off (upto a maximum of,
let's say £150,000) everyone's mortgage?

This will have a similar effect in that the banks/building societies get a
fair bit of money back, helping them, and also putting a lot of money back
into peoples pockets. This could have the knock-on effect of bouying the
economy as people have more money to spend.

Seems a far better solution than just giving it all straight to the banks.

Thanks
Anthony

WTF Happened?!? Liverpool 1-1 Everton

Watched the match last night, even though it we through the gaps of my fingers, and I must say, whilst at times impressive I have to ask, how in God's name did we draw that match?

We can analyse Rafa's tactic's and substitutions all we like, but at the end of the day, having that goal scored against us by that horrible little twerp Cahill, well, it was down to schoolboy defending!

It isn't all over just yet, if we play well at OT we can win, we have in the past, albeit under Houllier, but we have a better team than then and a better manager at the helm.  Yes, ManU have a game in hand and on level points, but considering some of the, erm, how can I put this, p*ss poor performances they have been dishing out this season, it does not take a rocket scientist to realise that they will drop points this season, they still have the likes of Villa, Everton and Arsenal (as do we, but that's a different story).

Good goal by Captain Fantastic last night, up until that point I thought it was going to end up a 0-0 bore draw, as it turned out I was half-right, a 1-1 bore draw, which is worse because we where so close to winning and going to the summit of the league again.

Right-o, off to work we go......

Later peeps, and remember, it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings!

Roll Up! Roll Up! Welcome To Labour's Britain

Well everyone, welcome to Labour's Britain, everything going cheap, welcome back to the 3/4 day working week.  You know, last time we had this, it was in the 70's, ooh, under Labour!

Seems to be a theme/trend, Labour get in pretend everything is all okay, screw the country, Conservatives get in, fix everything, get the blame then Labour get in again!

Yes, yes, I know it's a global crisis, but we should have been in a far better state to have coped if it wasn't for Labour squandering £60Billion surplus and all our Gold reserves to make them look good in the first few years of power.

Great work Gordon "Prudence" Brown, congratulations.  Next you can write a book, call it, "How To Bankrupt A Country For Dummies".  Nice one.

What has made me spit my dummy out you may ask, quite simply saw on the News BBC website that KPMG are the latest company to ask workers to either work a 4 day week or go onto 30% for a couple of months top stave off redundancies!

KPMG to offer staff shorter week

Person tapping at keyboard
Staff at KPMG are the latest to be affected by the credit crunch

Staff at accounting and consulting giant KPMG have been told they can save their jobs by working a four-day week or taking a short break on 30% pay.

The firm is attempting to stave off redundancies among its 11,000 strong workforce.

A spokesman said it was impossible to rule out job cuts in the future but the offer was on a voluntary basis.

Staff have until the first week of February to decide whether to take up the offer.

KPMG has offices in 22 locations in the UK, including London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Plymouth and Cambridge.

Those who agreed to a sabbatical would take between one and three months off on 30% of their salary.

A KPMG spokesman confirmed the offer and said: "We are mindful of the difficult conditions that everyone is operating in."

He added: "This move gives us some flexibility to manage the workforce.

"It helps us to avoid the need of making any redundancies."

A redundancy programme can lead to problems when the upturn eventually arrives
David Knight

The company is the latest to be affected by the credit crunch - despite being called in as an administrator to assist other firms with their financial problems.

Earlier this month, in an article written for the BBC News website, KPMG associate partner David Knight warned of the pitfalls of sacking staff.

He wrote: "Redundancies can sometimes be seen as a quick fix as employment costs often represent a significant slice of a company's operating overheads."

But he warned: "A redundancy programme can lead to problems when the upturn eventually arrives."

=========================================================================================================

The only time the upturn will arrive is when the Conservatives will get in.  Until then we will have to put up with Labour's policies!

Have a good day folks.

Had To Do It: Part Deux

Not quite as shallow as my previous Had To Do It (must resist the urge to re-post it, must-res-i-s-t, ah yes, resisted, that's fine), this one is to do with music.

To be more precise, one of my favourite all time groups and arguably one of the best ever..... can you guess who I am talking about..... go on, quick.....

ABBA!

The music that they created is apparently some of the most complex ever!  And having listened to it over and over for a while, again, it strikes one just how brilliant they actually are!  And you know, I just had to skim over previous posts to make sure I did not post this previously and came across something about getting the image of kissing Liz McDonald out of Coronation Street out of my head!  ARGGH!!!!!  Why, oh why do I do these things to myself!?!?!?

Seriously!  I must be absolutely fecking mad!  Now I have to get the image of that out of my head again!  .....Jessica Lucas.....Alesha Dixon.....ABBA   Ah, thats better!

Anyways, found a few YouTube vids of them, enjoy.  Even the "slowy's" Abba produced are exceptionally brilliant...... enjoy peeps, later.

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme:

Mamma Mia:

Money, Money, Money:

And a couple of my fave Abba songs:

Super Trouper

Voulez Vous:

And last, but certainly not least, Does Your Mother Know:

Rafa Talking Sense

It had to be done, some one has had to tell Ferguson how it really is and referee's should feel some relief at the fact that someone apart from them has had the guts to come out and tell it as it is.

A master stroke was to bring out an almost dossier of all the times Ferguson/Man Utd have gotten away with things that quite simply other manager's/team's just would not!  Anyways, I will quote the News BBC Site.  Have a read, it's funny and contains some bitter home truths..... Open-mouthed

Not only about how they get away with things, on and off the pitch, but also the comments about fixtures.  We have all been there, yet it's always United who are worse off, right? Sarcastic

Of course, another possibility, and another masterstroke, is this will take the heat off Captain Fantastic/Liverpool and firmly put the focus on Rafa, something which Jose Moan-rinho's comments always used to do, an excellent strategy imho.

Done very cleverly, with very dry humour mixed, very calmly done.

Well, thats my opinion and take on it, but then again, opinion's are like arse holes, everyone has one.

Benitez lays into rival Ferguson

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has launched a furious attack on Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson.

Benitez claims that Ferguson is "the only manager who will not be punished" for verbally attacking referees.

"We had a Respect campaign meeting and I said forget it, because Mr Ferguson is killing the referees," said Benitez.

Benitez was responding to Ferguson's midweek comment that nerves might ruin Liverpool's title bid, before issuing his tirade against the United boss.

Ferguson, who was given a two-game touchline ban and fined £10,000 in November for remonstrating with referee Mike Dean, had his pre-match news conference before Benitez's and was unable to immediately reply.

Benitez's extraordinary outburst came after a journalist asked Benitez for his response to Ferguson suggesting that Premier League leaders Liverpool might get nervous in the run-in.

"I was surprised by what has been said, but maybe they (Manchester United) are nervous because we are at the top of the table," added Benitez.

The Spaniard then pulled out a sheet of paper and read out a list of accusations about Ferguson's conduct regarding referees, the respect campaign and fixture lists.

The Respect campaign is the FA's programme of activities to combat unacceptable behaviour in the game at every level, both on the pitch and from the sidelines, which began in August last year.

"I want to talk about facts," said Benitez. "I want to be clear, I do not want to play mind games too early, although they seem to want to start.

"During the Respect campaign - and this is a fact - Mr Ferguson was charged by the FA for improper conduct after comments made about Martin Atkinson and Keith Hackett.

"He was not punished. He is the only manager in the league that cannot be punished for these things.

"How can you talk about the Respect campaign and yet criticise the referee every single week?

"We know what happens every time we go to Old Trafford and the United staff. They are always going man-to-man with the referees, especially at half-time when they walk close to the referees and they are talking and talking.

"All managers need to know is that only Mr Ferguson can talk about the fixtures, can talk about referees - and nothing happens.

"We need to know that I am talking about facts, not my impression. There are things that everyone can see every single week.

"To complain and to always have an advantage is not fair."

Benitez also heavily criticised Ferguson's complaints over supposed favouritism over fixtures.

"Two years ago we had a lot of early kick-offs away on Saturdays when United were playing on Sundays. And we didn't say anything," said the Reds boss.

"Now he is complaining about everything, that everybody is against United. But the second half of the season will see them playing at home against all the teams at the top of the table, it is a fantastic advantage.

"At Christmas, United played on the 29th and the rest of the teams played on the 28th. We were away against Newcastle two days after playing Bolton. They were playing about 40 hours later, but they were not complaining then.

"If he wants to talk about fixtures, and have a level playing field, there are two options if we don't want more problems with fixtures.

"One is the same as in Spain, the draw for the first part of the league is known, everyone knows which weekend. In the second half everyone plays the opposite, so you all know.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Meanwhile, Benitez has also revealed his disappointment that negotiations over a new contract are progressing slowly.

"My agent has not yet received any documents, and he is a little disappointed," said the former Valencia boss.

"But OK, we will see what happens. I do not want to say too much at the moment."

Preston V. Liverpool & A Bit Of Stevie G

Well, in the end it was perhaps tougher than it should have been, with all due respect to Preston.  They gave us a game but in the end we were victorious.

We did dominate for long periods, but in this game, and in particular the FA Cup, you never know what may happen, just look at today's Chelsea result for instance.

Some scary moments, and I would suggest that the disallowed Preston goal should have been a penalty as it looked like Carragher was holding back the Preston striker.  In the end, it was not to be..... thank God.

It looks like Xabi got injured, hopefully it isn't too serious, but we shall soon know, and it was more precautionary that he was taken off, although he was limping after having got changed.  It was very nice to see Torres get back into the thick of things, and to score a goal, his first ever FA Cup goal by the way.

It was a very good and very unselfish pass from Gerrard to assist the goal.

Terminator Salvation

I have just found the trailer for Terminator Salvation with Christian Bale as John Connor!  I cannot wait to see this film, it looks brilliant and very action packed, as you would hope and expect off of a Terminator film.

It is also rumoured that Arnie gave permission for them to use a computer generated face modelled on him to be used........

New Year And New Start

Peeps, may I just say now that I sincerely hope y'all had a great and happy New Year!  (This despite I find it a complete anti-climax to Christmas)  I am gonna go around and send individual wishes over the weekend, I hope, if I have time. Open-mouthed

Now that's done, the New Start part is because on Monday I start a new job!  I am a little nervous, as everyone is about starting a new job.
